How to choose your toothpaste?

I get a lot of inquiries from patients about which toothpaste is the best? The answer is - different for each person. So I want to help you with a few short tips.
Always choose fluoride pastes!
Patients with sensitive teeth:
If your teeth react to hot / cold, try Elmex Sensitive or Colgate Pro-Relief. They contain potassium nitrate which reduces tooth hypersensitivity.
Patients who want whiter teeth:
Teeth whitening pastes can remove coffee/tea/red wine/smoking stains on your teeth, but they can't actually whiten your teeth! If you want whiter teeth, nothing can replace professional whitening in the office (especially with a blue lamp). My recommendation for a toothpaste that will do a great job removing food/drink stains and keep your teeth white is Colgate Max White.
Patients prone to canker sores
It has been scientifically proven that SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) in toothpastes, which promotes the formation of foam during brushing, can affect the formation of canker sores in people who are prone to them. Some pastes do not contain SLS, such as Curaprox Enzycal.
Patients who have problems with bleeding gums:
My recommendation the irreplaceable Paradontax paste. Attention! It can stain the teeth so it is not for long term use.
Patients who want to whiten teeth toothpaste with activated carbon:
These toothpastes have become very popular on social media. It seems very cool to rub black toothpaste and then have whiter teeth. But the truth is that they can be very abrasive which means they can injure enamel and gums in the long run.
