Aligners

Aligners represent an innovative way of straightening teeth without disturbing the aesthetics of the smile. This means that your teeth will move subtly from day to day, while you will still be able to show off your smile. Compared to fixed braces, oral hygiene is also easier. With fixed appliances, it is necessary to "squeeze" between the wires, which makes interdental hygiene difficult. This represents an increased risk for caries in those areas.

What does the procedure for making your aligners look like?

1st visit - we determine the condition of your teeth through a clinical examination. We make intraoral and extraoral photos and orthopan that will help orthodontists estimate how many aligners you need to achieve the desired result.

2nd visit - we take impressions from which jaw models will be cast in the dental laboratory. Orthodontists make aligners on these models.

3rd visit - Your braces have arrived at the office! Before placing the braces in your mouth, it is necessary to put the so-called "attachments" or "buttons" that allow the braces to act on the tooth with adequate forces and move it in the desired direction. If necessary, we perform IPR (interproximal enamel reduction), i.e. "stripping". This means that we "scrape" the spaces between the teeth until we get enough space into which the tooth will move. Next comes the placing of braces on your teeth.

Other visits - refer to regular controls where we determine how your therapy is progressing.

High cooperation and motivation are necessary for transparent braces, because the course of therapy depends on you. It is very important to wear braces regularly and persistently, as well as good oral hygiene. If you are interested in transparent braces, the doors of the Smiles&More by Kristina Horvat clinic are open to you.
