One of the most common procedures I perform in my office and which I love to do are ceramic veneers.
Why do I love veneers so much considering other procedures? Because they can make a big difference in a patient’s overall appearance. You can look younger and act more confident with a new smile.
Many say they hid their smile with their hands or tried not to laugh because they were ashamed to show their teeth. Many are insecure about their smile and do not like how their teeth look. Veneers bring a smile back to patients ’faces.
Veneers are good for cracked teeth because they can change the shape, size and color of the teeth. We can also close the spaces between the teeth with veneers.
What exactly are veneers?
Thin ceramic veneers that stick to the teeth. With them we can literally create a new look of teeth.
You can have one, two, four, ten or a whole dental arch. When patients come to me and ask me how many teeth they need to work I advise to look in the mirror, laugh and make as many veneers as teeth you can see.
I also have some patients who made one or two veneers and it still looks great because that's all they need for a perfect smile.
Let's write a little about the procedure. After a consultation where we get to know your wishes and ideas, we make a plan for making veneers with regard to the possibilities in your mouth. At the next visit, we first take two quick impressions, one needed by us to make provisional teeth, and the other needed by the dental technician. This is followed by anesthetization so that the procedure is completely painless, and we start with minimally invasive sanding. What does that mean? It means that we grind 0.5-0.8 mm of the front surface of the teeth in order to make enough room for future veneers. If we didn't do that, the scales would look thick and "bulky". Sometimes, when the tooth itself is small and pushed inwards, it is enough to roughen the tooth.
When we finish sanding, we place floss under the gums, which is a prerequisite for a good final impression. This impression allows the technician to cast a model of the prepared teeth and make veneers on them. Veneers are made of highly aesthetic ceramic that irresistibly imitates a natural tooth with its transparency, color and texture.
Your next visit will be followed by a veneer trial. With a special Try In paste, we try out flakes that still do not have a glaze (they do not have a final shine). At this stage, we can still change the shape, length and color of the scales according to your wishes.
Next, the veneers are glazed in the dental laboratory, and the they are ready for cementation.
On your last visit, we cement the veneers on your teeth, after which you can drink, eat and of course, smile!
