How are they created and what are they?<\/p>\n

White spots represent enamel demineralization. What does that mean? It means that in that place there is a lack of minerals that make up the basic structure of the enamel. White spots can appear in 2 ways:<\/p>\n

1. Congenital<\/strong> - most often caused by excessive intake of fluoride during tooth development (so-called dental fluorosis). The tooth will have white spots as soon as it emerges.<\/p>\n

2. Acquired during life <\/strong>- the most common cause is bacteria. This type of white spot is actually an initial caries that still has the possibility of \"healing\" without the need to grind the teeth.<\/p>\n

ICON (caries Infiltration Concept, DMG America) represents an innovative way of stopping further enamel demineralization and removing white spots on the teeth without grinding. The procedure is very simple. First, we remove the plaque from the teeth with a brush in order to have a clean surface of the teeth. Then we ensure a dry working field and start with ICON. We apply the acid several times to open the small pores in the enamel. This is very important to us, because after several successive applications of acid, we apply an infiltrant (rare composite resin). The infiltrant fills the open pores created in the enamel and thus removes the white spot. In this way, we remove the aesthetic defect on your teeth completely minimally invasive, i.e. without grinding!<\/p>\n
