Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is a simple process that can be carried out in different ways, and among those that give the best results are teeth whitening at home and professional whitening in the office.

What do we use?

The whitening products used contain one of two types of bleach; hydrogen peroxide or urea peroxide. They work by breaking down stains into smaller pieces and extracting pigmentation from teeth that become whiter.

Teeth whitening at home - benefits

This treatment uses special splints made individually for your teeth to allow the gel to be applied evenly to each tooth surface and thus obtain satisfactory results. Depending on the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, Dr. Kristina Horvat will suggest whether it is better to wear gel splints for a few hours during the day or all night.

In order to get the desired results, the procedure is performed every day and so for 10-14 days in a row. The improvement will be noticed in the first few days, and the full result will be seen after two weeks.

One of the biggest advantages is that you can participate in the process yourself and decide what will be the final whiteness of your teeth. In order to constantly maintain your whiteness, it is recommended to repeat the procedure every 6 months, and if you are a person who drinks a lot of coffee or tea, it is possible that you will want to do whitening more often, for example every 3-4 months.

The benefits of whitening at home include:

  • more flexibility
  • teeth whiteness control
  • the cost
  • ease of use
  • higher efficiency than over-the-counter products (whitening strips, pastes...)
  • reduced sensitivity
Whitening in the office with a Beyond II lamp

Teeth whitening with the Beyond II lamp from the American market has proven to be the best choice for fast and efficient action. The procedure is performed in our office and involves applying a concentrated gel directly to the teeth, followed by activating the gel (stain oxidation process) with strong light. We will brush your teeth and repeat the procedure 3 times in 15 minutes, which would mean that you will get a whiter and fresher smile in 45 minutes with just one visit to us.

If you decide to whiten your teeth with a Beyond II lamp, the benefits you have are:

  • same-day results
  • no gels or splints to use
  • procedure lasts only 45 minutes
  • perfect for "last minute" events
Is whitening safe?

YES! Dr. Kristina Horvat will first examine your teeth before recommending a method of teeth whitening. Once we have determined that your teeth and gums are healthy, you can choose between the methods of whitening your teeth. Of course, for our patients who have more sensitive teeth, at-home whitening may be a better choice, mostly because the procedure can be customized (instead of applying every day, you may want to apply the gel once every other day).

What to keep in mind?

Regardless of which treatment you choose, teeth are porous and absorb new stains over time. This is why it is important to minimize contact with problematic types of food and liquids (Coca Cola, red wine, green and black tea...), but it is also very important to make an appointment with your dentist for regular check-ups, considering that we can polish and sandblast newly formed ones. surface stains.
